Casa Pompano — interior design in Pompano Beach.

A single-family residence reimagined for a young family relocating from the Northeast. The brief was simple in language and exacting in execution: warmth without weight, daylight without glare, finishes that age the right direction. We worked through the property over the course of one calendar year — layout first, materials second, furniture last.

The brief

The client purchased the property as a primary residence and wanted an interior that would feel finished from day one. The existing finishes were generic Florida-builder: white cabinets, glossy tile, oversize fans. The bones of the property were good. The surfaces needed to start over.

Our brief was warmth and longevity. The young family would live in the home for at least a decade. Trend-driven finishes were off the table. Everything we specified had to earn its place over time.

The approach

We started with layout, not finishes. A handful of walls came down to open the kitchen to the dining room and the pool beyond — the property had been designed as discrete rooms, and we made it read as one continuous interior. Once the geometry was settled, the materials chose themselves.

The palette is restrained on purpose. American walnut with a brushed finish carries the kitchen and the wardrobes. Cream quartz brightens without going cold. Cream pleated drapery softens the windows where direct South Florida sun would otherwise wash the room. Every cabinet pull is brushed nickel, every faucet matte black — two metals, used consistently.

Material first, mood second, decoration last. Cream quartz holds light without amplifying it; walnut warms with use rather than yellowing.
